Our Approach

At Neighborhood Empowerment, we believe that stability starts with safety, dignity, and direction. Our approach combines supportive housing with a focus on helping individuals build a strong foundation for long-term success. We prioritize the whole person—housing,  mindset, and community ensuring every resident receives the tools they need to move from survival to stability and from stability to independence.

Meet Our Founder

Founder and CEO of Neighborhood Empowerment

Shawday R.

Founder & CEO

Shawday, Founder of Neighborhood Empowerment, has spent over a decade dedicated to supporting individuals through some of life’s most challenging moments.  At the early age of 18, her career began as a Medical Assistant, and for eight years she worked at a busy multi-specialty outpatient clinic, where she gained firsthand experience in patient care and the importance of compassionate, attentive support.

For three years after, Shawday worked as a Treatment Coach, providing guidance and advocacy for individuals living with HIV. This role deepened her understanding of the challenges people face when navigating complex healthcare and social systems, and strengthened her commitment to helping people regain stability and independence.

Currently, as a Care Coordinator for the elderly, Shawday combines her clinical knowledge with a passion for life planning, connecting clients to critical resources, supportive services, and opportunities for growth.

Shawday founded Neighborhood Empowerment to bring all of these experiences together into a single mission: guiding individuals out of chaos and into clarity. Her vision is a facility that provides safe housing, structured support, and workforce development—all under one roof—helping residents reclaim their independence and build meaningful, sustainable lives.

Her work is guided by a belief that everyone deserves dignity, opportunity, and the tools to succeed, and she is committed to creating programs that empower people to achieve lasting change.

Values & Philosophy

At Neighborhood Empowerment, our work is guided by a set of core values that shape every interaction, program, and service we provide:

1. Compassion

We treat every resident and client with respect, empathy, and understanding, recognizing that each individual’s journey is unique.

2. Empowerment

We provide the tools, guidance, and opportunities for individuals to reclaim control over their lives and achieve long-term independence.

3. Integrity

We operate with transparency, accountability, and honesty in all that we do, fostering trust with residents, staff, and partners.

4. Growth & Opportunity

We believe in continuous personal and professional development by providing access to resources that open doors to brighter futures.

5. Community & Collaboration

We value partnerships and connections, recognizing that lasting success comes from working together with families, agencies, and the wider community.

Our Philosophy

We believe that stability is the foundation of success. By combining safe housing, structured support, and skill-building programs, we guide individuals out of uncertainty and into clarity, independence, and opportunity. Every person who comes through our doors is treated as capable, worthy, and ready to grow—because we know that given the right environment and support, transformation is possible.

Why We’re Different

At Neighborhood Empowerment, we offer safe and supportive housing alongside personal goal setting. Our approach extends beyond traditional housing programs by addressing the whole person, promoting stability and skill development to facilitate long-term independence and meaningful career opportunities for our residents.

Our approach is person-centered, trauma-informed, and empowerment-focused, ensuring that each individual not only finds a place to live, but also the tools, confidence, and clarity needed to thrive.

By merging housing, personal development, and career support, we create outcomes that few programs can match, giving residents the opportunity to transform their lives fully and sustainably.
